The Need for Quality Childcare Programs

Childcare Vouchers are provided either by an employer, usually through a childcare voucher scheme provider that an employer chooses. If you would like to know if your company offers childcare vouchers scheme and who your childcare voucher scheme is provided by you should ask your HR or payroll department who your provider is, or encourage them to sign up with a provider. There are many childcare voucher scheme providers available, many of whom offer extra benefits on top of the childcare voucher scheme.

The National Institute of Health released a study in March, 2007 after following a group of children through early childhood to the 6th grade. The study found that the children who received a higher quality of childcare scored higher on 5th grade vocabulary tests than the children who had attended childcare of a lower quality. The study also reported that teachers found children from childcare to be “disobedient”, fight more frequently, and more argumentative. The study reported the increases in both aggression and vocabulary were small. “The researchers emphasized that the children’s behavior was within the normal range and were not considered clinically disordered.”

Going to a class can be a difficulty, especially if it’s not close to where one lives. An option that more and more childcare providers are considering is letting their childcare training requirements be met on line. Many of the required training is now offered over the internet, making it more convenient and in some cases, more affordable.

Many organizations in the developed world campaign for free or subsidized childcare for all. Others campaign for tax breaks or allowances to provide parents a non finance driven choice. Many of the free or subsidized childcare programs in the United States are also Child Development programs, or afterschool programs which hire certified teachers to teach the children while they are in their care. There are often local industry associations that lobby governments on childcare policy, promote the industry to the public or help parents choose the right daycare provider.

A huge benefit of childcare traineeships is that they are paid positions and allow for hands on experience working with young kids. The salary varies from place to place and lasts for 12 months, so you’ll want to investigate your cost of living needs before taking a traineeship. Some people who take a traineeship program find that they are able to being the program before they are completely finished with high school as long as they have high marks in English and Math.

I think that there is a lot of bias in this article…especially the link to the reference about the negative effects of childcare. There are many others that would show the many positive effects. The statements about the benefits of the different types of care all seem like opinion more than fact. Moellea (talk) 19:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Child care or childcare, child minding, daycare or preschool is the caring for and supervision of a child or children, usually from age six weeks to age thirteen. Child care is the action or skill of looking after children by a day care center, babysitter, or other providers. Child care is a broad topic covering a wide spectrum of contexts, activities, social and cultural conventions, and institutions. The majority of child care institutions that are available require that child care providers have extensive training in first aid and are CPR certified. In addition, background checks, drug testingnot at all centers, and reference verification are normally a requirement. Child care can cost up to $15,000 for one year in the United States. The average annual cost of full time care for an infant in center based care ranges from $4,863 in Mississippi to $16,430 in Massachusetts. Early child care is a very important and often overlooked component of child development. Child care providers are our children’s first teachers, and therefore play an integral role in our systems of early childhood education. Quality care from a young age can have a huge impact on the future successes of children.

What is the policy of the child care center? Be sure to ask what there rules are regarding sickness, time off, vacations, paid holidays, emergencies. Make sure that you are clear on what these policies are; be clear on what the child daycare center is expecting of you and vice versa. Many times this is how parents and child daycare centers get into disagreement. Not over the actual childcare provided but over the policies established by the center.
