Original Finger Plays Songs
Finger Plays are
valuable activities that help children acquire skills essential to their
development and learning. Finger Plays help improve and advance memory and
language skills, while also aiding in the development of eye-hand coordination and
enhancing gross and fine motor skills.
Miss
Lori and her son Clark Richard enjoy writing original Finger Play songs. “Little
Bear” is the Finger Play they wrote for “Finger Plays with Miss Lori”. They wanted to have a new finger play for
children to learn, so they sat down with some friends and made it up in 10
minutes! Next, Miss Lori knew she would need an opening and closing song for the
video. So she asked Clark Richard to help. They
started working on the songs while driving home from the Library of Congress.
Sean
came up with “Mommy and Daddy
look what I can do”, and Clark Richard and Miss Lori took it from there,
while also creatively added the finger plays into the song.
The
closing song originated from a play that Clark Richard preformed in. He used the
melody from one of the songs, to write “Its time to say goodbye”
Clark
Richard recorded the songs for the video!
Clark Richard was 8 years old at the time. Quite
talented!
