Finger Plays? Then watch
Finger Plays with “Miss Lori” a new video that features “Miss
Lori” performing childhood favorites like “Wheels on the Bus"
and
"Where is Thumb kin?"
Entertaining and fun, “Miss Lori” makes learning these songs
and motions, child’s play.
As an early childhood
educator, 37- year-old Lori Reeves has long used finger plays to educate
and entertain young children. Finger
plays can benefit young children by helping them develop fine motor
skills and eye-hand coordination. Last
spring, Reeves and Husband Sean, decided to create a videotape of her
work for sale. During an
exhaustive search at the Library of Congress for copyright information,
Reeves learned that many of the English Rhymes she uses could be traced
to their eighteenth-century roots.
While two distributors now offer the video, the
Nesbit, Mississippi couple are also promoting "Miss Lori"
through their company, Sqedunk Children Productions
Reeves hopes to continue producing videos, and follow in the
footsteps of other childhood entertainers like Captain Kangaroo and the
hosts of Romper Room.
